Good afternoon Farm Cart Family!

To everyone that is new here, welcome aboard! We are honored to have you trust us with your food supply in these unprecedented times.

First off, I’d like to ease your fears with this simple statement: our farmers are not stopping farming, our baker is not stopping baking, the chickens are not stopping laying eggs. In fact, everyone of these faces that you see below you is ramping up their production to take care of their community. Because the heart of all of our desire to farm has always been about this exact moment. The moment that our community truly needed us. With that said, sit back, maintain your social distance, wear your mask in public places, wear your gloves, wash your hands, fight for government relief to go to the people on the ground that need it and let us do what we love to do: Grow your food and deliver it safe and clean to your door, workplace, or drop point.

With that said, before I dive into what we are doing on our packing line to keep your food safe, I want to take a moment to introduce you to the one’s keeping us fed, our community farmers. Bear in mind that they are all now wearing gloves in the field, screening their workers daily for illness, and are acting super mindfully to protect you. These guys that you see below are the backbone of what you will encounter in your box each week. We have the Godfathers of our regions organic movement: Tom Shepherd, Steve Sprinkels, John Givens, and then we have their proteges: Alex Frecker, Chuy Salas, Jose Alcantar, and me.

Our Covid-19 Packing and Delivery Protocols:

Here’s what we are doing to make sure your produce gets to your door safely and uncontaminated with the virus.

  1. Your box is packed into a brand new box that was stored, sealed in a packing house for the past 6 months. Please dispose of it after, we are ceasing box collections for the time being.

  2. All of our staff are wearing new, disposable gloves and N 95 masks.

  3. Our delivery drivers are wearing new, disposable gloves and Surgical masks.

So, in the worst case scenario where one of our staff has actively transmittable covid-19, it would not be passed on outside of their masks and their gloves. With that said, these are scary times, my father is a current cancer patient and we are taking our protocols insanely seriously because of this. We have an open dialogue going with our employees, if anyone feels sick, has been exposed to anyone feeling sick, they will not be in our fields or on our packing line.

We did some social distancing planting on Sunday with some awesome volunteers. Reach out if you are losing your mind indoors and want to get outside and put some sweat equity into your food supply.
